Now that November has arrived, we have officially entered the “Giving Season.” At Viachem we strive to make an impact in our community year-round, but especially throughout the holiday season. To close out 2018, we have two outreach opportunities for our customers to join forces with the Viachem team in impacting our community.
Canned Food Drive
According to Feeding America, hunger can affect people in any stage of life. From children to seniors, no one is immune from going hungry. One approach to measuring the risk of hunger in America is through the concept of food security. Food security is the ability for a household to provide an adequate amount of food for each person living in the household to live a healthy life.
When hosting canned food drives, companies and organizations like Viachem have the opportunity to provide for those in our community faced with food insecurity, and in reality, hunger is much closer than you may think. In Texas, 4,277,540 people struggle with hunger, and 1,676,740 of them are children. Fighting hunger can occur gradually, typically when individuals are faced with having to choose between paying bills or going to the grocery store.
Through the holiday season, we are dedicated to helping those in our community facing hunger. We are eager to give our team the opportunity to leave a larger handprint by donating canned goods to benefit the North Texas Food Bank.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree
We are excited to announce that in December, Viachem adopted an Angel from the Salvation Army, aiding a family in need to celebrate Christmas. The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program has been in existence in the DFW Metroplex since 1984, and projects to serve more than 45,000 children in the DFW Metroplex this season.
Angel Trees are located in 10 shopping malls in the DFW area, as well as at more than 250 churches, organizations and companies. Viachem was fortunate enough to select a family with three children ages 13, 9 and 6 years old. Our team purchased gifts for the family in an effort to provide a warm and joyful Christmas.
By participating in the Salvation Army’s cause, we supported our community and helped those celebrate Christmas who may not have the opportunity to otherwise.
These community outreach opportunities are just two ways in which we foster support to the local community. If you’re interested in giving back through these programs or with Viachem, please contact Nicola Welch at [email protected] for more information.
